Tue, 30 October 2007 ![]() Just on the off chance one of you hasn't given up on us, we're sorry to say that it doesn't look we are going to get our act together concerning the podcast. We are pulling the plug. We loved doing it and we miss it, especially the people we got to meet because of the podcast. Between family, work, various charities, somebody's movie addiction, home, global warming, computer woes and the hotness of Christian Bale, the podcast sort of got lost on our priority lists. We would like to take a moment to say a few things:

Tue, 26 June 2007 This one is going to sound a bit different because we recorded it live at the Owl's Nest Bookstore in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The Owl's Nest is the largest used bookstore in New Brunswick and you definitely need to stop in if you are in the area. It is speculated that every book ever written is in that store, you just have to know how to find it. Today we are discussing Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. So we get to revisit our old friends Captain Jack, Will, Elizabeth, and Captain Barbossa and talk about what we liked and what we didn't. Sorry folks, no feedback this week but that is coming soon as we have lots of great goodies in the mailbag. Remember, two weeks and we will be reviewing Singularity by Bill DeSmedt which can be found at Podiobooks.com as a free download. Forums, voicemail is 206-203-3115, email is twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. Theme music is by BUDZ and they can be found at PodSafeAudio.com. The sound effect is from The Freesound Project. Mon, 11 June 2007 Just on the off chance you are Canadian and a Doctor Who fan and might not already know this, CBC is playing the Christmas Special "The Runaway Bride" Monday night (June 11th). Sort of a Christmas in June type of thing. And the Monday after that, June 18th, they are going to start airing series three, the ones with the new Companion, Martha. Yay! In an unrelated note, they airred the Spaceys tonight and guess who won Viewer Fave TV Character.... hehe "In your face, Jack Bauer!" Take a listen to podcast #51 if you want to know who we were hoping to win. Category: announcement -- posted at: 12:43 AM Comments[6] |
Sat, 9 June 2007 This week, thanks to Comic Hunter.net, we are reviewing part one of Stephen King's Darktower "The Gunslinger Born" by Robin Furth and Peter David (art by Jae Lee) and Army@Love by Rick Veitch (art by Veitch and Gary Erskine). This one is marked Explicit just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the feedback. Please note that we now have a new phone number because we let the old one expire. But the new one is 206-203-3115 and to be honest, this one is a lot easier to remember. If you call and you don't hear either of our voices, it isn't our phone line anymore. Or it never was and it turns out you just dialed a wrong number. Make sure you keep working on Singularity by Bill DeSmedt which can be found at Podiobooks.com as a free download. Fri, 18 May 2007 It is Doctor Who time and we thought we would weigh in on how we felt about the new companion of our favourite Time Lord. Granted, he is the only Time Lord of the competition was a little sparse. Likes, dislikes, you will have to listen to find out. WARNING: If you want to remain completely and totally spoiler free, you might want to skip this one and we won’t take it personally. We don’t get into plot or the like but there is some mention of episode topics and time travelling destinations. You have been warned. Mon, 7 May 2007 Yeah, I know that this is really, really late but when your parents come to visit, you can't tell them to go away because you have a podcast to edit. I may be an awful daughter but even I'm not that bad. And if it makes you feel better, I'm missing Heroes as punishment. But we are here to talk about all the great movies that are out there this summer and which ones we are really looking forward to reviewing for the show. Basically, we still don't really know but we would like your input. If you have an opinion on what you would like us to talk about, send them on in. Or if you think that the idea of a monthly round-up show at the end of the month is the way to go, let us know that too. We NEED all the help we can get. Thanks for all the great people who sent us feedback: Aser, Stu, Bob, Henk, and Ed. (Sorry if I missed someone.) Sat, 28 April 2007 It is our favourite time of year folks and I'm sure you are asking yourself what has taken us so long to get this one to you. Something this important, something this monumental, deserves care and consideration... and my computer decided to enforce its disk size as non-negotiable and forced me to do some spring cleaning before I could even start editing but that is completely beside the point. We are here to celebrate the Spaceys. The Spaceys are the awards given by the Canadian Space channel for excellence in sci-fi entertainment. They have a selection of awards that are voter based and if you visit their website, you too can have your say on fun categories like "Favourite Kick-Ass Character" or "Fave Character You Love to Hate". As you can see, we take our awards very seriously up here in the North. Thanks to Hank and Zack and all the others who sent us feedback. Thu, 19 April 2007 Tune in, turn on, groove out... you get the drift. Hope you are in the mood for something a little different. We finally come through with our threat to do our own music show and it turned out to be pretty fun. Thanks to Stu and Roshen for all the great suggestions. Today, you will have the pleasure of listening to Bleeding Hands, Small Enclosed Area, As Tall As Lions, Lacuna Coil, DNA, and Uncle Seth. Most of the above come from the PodShow podsafe music network. Forums, voicemail is 206-202-4894, email is twogirlsanda podcast@gmail.com. Fri, 13 April 2007 I know we haven't posted anything for a little bit, but you will have to be patient for a little longer. Between unexpected business trips and broken equipment (all on my part at that), Eliz and I have not had the chance to record anything yet again. But fear not, we will be putting something together this week, so expect our return next Friday. Til next Friday... Category: announcement -- posted at: 6:01 AM Comments[8] |
Sat, 31 March 2007 The miniseries, for people who think that movies are just not long enough. We have all watched them, loved them, don't have the patience for them, whatever. We delve into some of our favourites: Dune, The Lost Room, etc. Some of our not-so- favourites (Earth Sea) and some we wish they had given the miniseries treatment (Tanya Huff's Keeper series.) All the usual stuff. Forums, voicemail is 206-202-4894, email is twogirlsandapodcast@ gmail.com. Theme musis is by BUDZ and they can be found at PodSafeAudio.com. Fri, 23 March 2007 You would think that since this was the one-year anniversary show, I'd take special care and write really awesome, awe-inspiring show notes. That is somewhat not the case. But I assure you, the effort can be heard in podcast instead...yeah sure... Here, we offer you some of our favourite clips of the last year and they are all a touch off the wall. Hope you enjoy. Remember, we would still like to get your recommendations on what to play during our music podcast so please keep sending those in. PodsafeAudio.com has lots and lots of podsafe music. Also, Singularity by Bill DeSmedt can be found at Podiobooks.com. Thanks to Sydney, Aser, Florida Zack, and Shane for the great feedback. Fri, 16 March 2007 At the risk of turning into the every two weeks podcast, I'm afraid to report that there will be no podcast this week. Sat, 10 March 2007 This week we were lazy and decided to give you a piece of our world. A demonstration, if you will, of the way we converse on an everyday basis. It is very random and we have no idea what will come up... Well, I do but then, I just spent the last couple of hours editing it. We will leave it up to you to discover. But I can tell you that we announced our next book selection: Singularity by Bill DeSmedt. It is an audiobook and it can be downloaded for free from Podiobooks.com. It is something a little different so I hope you all enjoy. Thanks go to Florida Zack who let us know about Nathan Fillion's new show, Drive. (It is on Fox so be careful about getting too attached.) And also to Bob who had some questions about the music episode we would like to do in a few weeks. The music we would like requested needs to be podshow friendly and we will need to be able to reference back to the artist in the shownotes. Basically, the less complicated, the better. Remember, we are lazy. ;) If you are not sure, a good place to start would be PodSafeAudio.com and you can take off from there. Let us know if you have any questions. Fri, 2 March 2007 Hey guys, we are back! Thanks for the understanding, it was greatly appreciated but we are here tonight to talk about two new comics that can be found on your favourite comic book stand. If you don't have a favourite comic shop, you should give ComicHunter.net a try. They are awesome. This week, we have New Universal by Warren Ellis from Marvel comics and Scalped by Jason Aaron from Vertigo. Two very different reads and two split decisions. Here is an interview with Warren Ellis you might like to check out and one with the artist, Salvador Larroca, that gives a very nice preview of his gorgeous artwork. Thanks go to Aser, Allison, Sydney, David and Florida Zack for their wonderful feedback. This week's promo is for Really Big Things serial playing at Jack Mangan's Deadpan Podcast. Don't forget to get your music requests in for our all requests music show coming up in two or three weeks. The only stipulation is that the music needs to be podsafe. We'll even do dedications to a loved one, someone you would like to love, or that celebrity you would love to love. So get those requests in and it should be a lot of fun. Fri, 2 February 2007 Hey there folks, come sit around for another edition of our extra special bookclub. This week we discuss Jim Butcher's Storm Front, which is the first book of the Dresden Files series. Harry Dresden is a private investigator and his major selling point is that he is also a wizard. Basically, we got mystery and the supernatural, what is not to love? Then throw in the new series that practically just premiered on the SciFi channel (Space if you are Canadian) and we are positively buzzed with glee. We haven't picked the next book yet but we will let you know once we know. This week's promo is from Nobody Likes Brunettes in a Hamsterball which is a wonderful Veronica Mars podcast. Thanks to Mike from Nashville for the voicemail. Thanks to Sydney, Florida Zack, David Anderson, Aser, Curnir, Selganor Yoster, Stu, Epic Dewfall for the great emails. (If I've forgotten someone, I'm sorry and please let me know so I can fix.) Fri, 19 January 2007 Gonna be a quickie show notes this week. We talk about movies. Movies. And more movies. When we run out of the movies we saw in 2006, we jump onto the ones we want to see in 2007. So that we don't ruin the suspense, we will be posting the top choices into another post later in the week. Thanks for all the great suggestions concerning your favourites. If you didn't hear yours on the air, it is likely because we didn't receive yours by the time we recorded this show. We will save it for our next feedback session. Also, thanks to Bob, David, and Sydney for additional feedback. This week's promo is teaser two for the upcoming Billibub Baddings by Tee Morris. Fri, 12 January 2007 Hey Scooby Gang! This week isn't exactly what we promised but we wanted to give folks a little more time to get their lists in for favourite 2006 movies and most anticipated for 2007. Don't you see we do it all for you? Yeah, sure... this week we visit Neptune to discuss the most talked about question on everyone's mind: Will Veronica and Logan ever work out their problems and live happily ever after? Ok, perhaps that isn't one everyone's mind and perhaps that isn't exactly what we talk about but I'm sure it must have come up somewhere along the line. Mostly, we just have a few laughs concerning what has been happening this season so take that as a warning to anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled. If you are new to the world of Veronica Mars and like what you hear, make sure to watch the show on the new CW. Also, there are other Veronica Mars podcasts out there like the Nobody Likes Brunettes In a Hamsterball podcast. No feedback this week, we are saving it all for next, and this week's promo is a teaser for the upcoming Billibub Baddings by Tee Morris. Sat, 6 January 2007 Nah-nah! I betcha you thought this was going to be a Hitchhiker's episode. Sorry, that would have been too predictable and would go against all directives provided by the Infinite Improbability Drive. Instead, for the first show of 2007, we are starting a new comic review series. Our good friends at ComicHunter.net have been kind enough to provide us with some #1s. First up is Crossing Midnight (by Mike Carey) and Sandman Mystery Theatre: Sleep of Reason (by Jim Ney Rieber), both from Vertigo Comics. Two interesting reads and you will have to listen to see what we thought of them. Thanks to Chris, Aser, David in CT, Bob, Gary from Ozpod, Roshen, Curnir, & Lynn from NB for the wonderful feedback. Luckily, Chris didn't pick on me too much concerning last week's outtakes show. No promo this week but if you would like to have your promo played on the show or know of one we should be playing, please pass that info along. Remember, next week is our review of 2006 movies and what looks promising for 2007. Send along a list of your favorites of 2006 and we will compile a list of the listener's top 10 or 5 or 2 or 0, depending on how many we receive. Forums, voicemail is 206-202-4894, email is twogirlsandapodcast@gmail.com. Theme musis if by BUDZ and they can be found at PodSafeAudio.com. Sat, 30 December 2006 This was going to be a post stating that there wasn't going to be a show this week... but I couldn't do it so you get an outtakes episode instead. Chris and I were unable to get our schedules to mesh so no recording time was to be had. But when I sat down to write that, I thought that we had to post something for New Years. It wasn't right otherwise. So here you go, something pretty simple and quick and I had a lot of fun putting it together. You will have to let us know if you really hate what I do here. No feedback or promos this week, those will be saved for next week. Thanks to BUDZ for the theme music and the sound effects from The Freesound Project. Fri, 15 December 2006 ![]() Hey everyone... we were late again but I'm blaming the malls for this one. Not enough hours in the day, trying to get ready for Christmas, and battling evil on top of it, what is a girl to do? But we have a lot of fun this week, by getting into a little bit of everything. Heroes, Doctor Who, Torchwood, favourite childhood toys, The Simpsons, Antarctica, etc, etc... Just like Santa, we got something for everyone. To be honest, it is mostly a feedback show but I hope that doesn't scare you away. Thanks to Stu, Bob, Michael in Nashville for the great feedback. This week's promo is from The Vintage Gamer and the super wonderful bumper is by SysTris aka Raequel from The Triscast Podcast. Fri, 8 December 2006 ![]() Better a little late than never, I was having mic issues so the show needed a little extra work this week.... but it is now here and I present to you our take on Neil Gaiman's world of Neverwhere. Plot, characters, mini-series vs. book vs. comic, it is all here. We get into it all. Also, as promised, we recommend that you check out the Doctor Who spoof, The Curse of Fatal Death: Part 1 & 2, written by Steven Moffat. Our next book pick is Storm Front, Book One of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Can't wait to read it. Thanks to Bob, Tricia from Ohio, and Roshen Rodesh for the great feedback. Sat, 2 December 2006 We were thinking that it's about time we spent some quality time with our favorite british superhero, Doctor Who. Basically, we the need to discuss what we think of the second season so far (up to episode 7, "Idiot's Lantern" in Canada), Eccleston vs. Tennant, Rose, Mickey, favorite bad guys... the whole ball 'n wax. So if you haven't seen up to "Idiot's Lantern", you might want to skip or risk being spoiled. This week's promo is from KnitWitch and our super-fantastic-extra-wonderful bumper is from Tee Morris. Harold gives my heart so much joy, you have no idea. And lots of thanks to Julie for the feedback, it gave us lots to talk about and now I want my own droid. Also, remember that next week we are discussing Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere so if you have any questions or comments on the book, mini-series, comics, etc... you know where to send them. And I don't think you need reminding about our guest spot on Fanboy Smackdown, but if you haven't yet, you should check it out.
